Hearing Services for Adults
Hearing for adults combines rehabilitation, and supported treatment plans, especially for people who have lost their hearing over time. It can also be for people who lose their hearing while they're in their younger adulthood.
Hearing loss impacts all aspects of your life, from your work to your relationships to your emotional and mental health. It can make continuing work in your current career difficult, increase isolation with your social group, and wreak havoc on your intimate relationships. For many people, losing their hearing as they age creates a negative spiral that can contribute to depression, isolation and in older people can even contribute to cognitive decline.
Fundamentally our ability to communicate and connect to the world affects everything. It can often take close to a decade for people to seek treatment after the first signs of hearing loss start to appear. But there is so much that we can do about hearing decline and many tools we can use to support you and your loved ones during this journey that can reduce these negative impacts, slow the loss of hearing, and help you remain connected.

DIAGNOSTIC AUDIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
The standard test battery for Adults includes Otoscopy, Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) via air conduction and bone conduction when required, Speech Audiometry and Immittance Audiometry. The testing allows us to determine if an individual has normal hearing or any degree of hearing loss. We can also determine if a hearing loss is likely due to the outer, middle or inner ear. This allows for the correct management.
TINNITUS ASSESSMENT
Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, sounds in your ears) assessment should always start with a diagnostic assessment and the completion of specific tinnitus questionnaires. Once this has been completed, we can determine if other testing, referrals, or treatment is required.
HEARING AIDS & DEVICES
There are many different hearing aids on the market, they very greatly in appearance, size, style, performance and cost. Ideally, hearing aids are prescribed based on an individual’s needs, lifestyle, hearing loss and their budget.
For some individuals, Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s) are required in stead of, or as well as, hearing aids. ALD’s such as TV headsets, personal amplifiers are again assessed based on each individual.
HEARING AID ADJUSTMENTS
If you currently wear hearing aids and require adjustments, please contact us and provide as much detail as possible regarding your current hearing aids. If possible, this should include the manufacture/make and model and how long you have had them.
