Adult Hearing Test

Why have a full diagnostic hearing test?

A full diagnostic hearing test provides a clear, detailed understanding of your hearing health, helping to identify any outer ear, middle ear or inner ear issues.

You might benefit from a comprehensive assessment if you:

  • Notice difficulty following conversations, especially in background noise

  • Frequently ask others to repeat themselves

  • Experience ringing or buzzing in your ears (tinnitus)

  • Work in noisy environments or require hearing checks for employment

  • Simply want peace of mind about your hearing

Early detection allows for more effective management, whether that involves monitoring your hearing over time, protecting it from further damage, or exploring tailored treatment options.

What does the test involve?

A full diagnostic hearing test is thorough, comfortable, and non-invasive. During your appointment,

one of our qualified audiologists will guide you through each step and explain your results clearly.

Your assessment may include:

  • Detailed case history

    • Discussing your hearing concerns, medical background, and lifestyle needs

  • Ear examination

    • A visual check of your ears using specialised equipment

  • Hearing test (PTA testing)

    • Listening to a series of tones at different volumes across all the pitches of sound from                250Hz to 8000Hz to assess how well you hear

  • Speech test

    • Listening to words at different volumes to assess how well you understand everyday conversation

  • Middle ear assessment

    • Tympanometry assessment to evaluate how your eardrum and middle ear are functioning

  • Results and recommendations

    • Clear explanation of your results, along with personalised advice and next steps if needed

Why not have a screening at a shopping centre?

A full diagnostic hearing test provides accurate, reliable results you can trust.

Unlike basic screenings, your assessment at CK Audiology is conducted in a soundproof environment, allowing us to measure your hearing precisely without background interference.

This comprehensive approach evaluates the entire hearing system including your outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear, so that we can accurately identify both the type and degree of hearing loss.

By understanding exactly where and how your hearing is affected, we can:

  • Provide a clear and confident diagnosis

  • Detect issues that a simple screening may miss

  • Tailor recommendations specifically to your needs

  • Help prevent further hearing decline with early intervention

A full diagnostic test gives you more than just an answer, it gives you clarity, direction, and confidence in your hearing health.
